Aviation Safety Seminar and Fly-in
Saturday June 16, 0830 am, CWC Airport
A Pilot's Scavenger Hunt!
For our Spring Safety Seminar / Fly-In, we will again focus on one of navigation’s basic principles – pilotage. Pilotage is defined as “Navigation by visual reference to landmarks.”
After some free coffee and dough nuts, the seminar portion of the event will cover some relevant material similar to what we do during our monthly meetings. Wings credit will be awarded for attending. In case of bad weather, the seminar portion will be extended.
Following the seminar, there will be an event, weather and NOTAM briefing for the Scavenger Hunt. It is important that all participants complete their aircraft preflight prior to the seminar.
Bring all your gadgets (tablets, phones, GPS, sectional, laptops) you normally use when flying your airplane. You will be provided an envelope containing clues about the route and turn points before take-off. At each turn point, you will be asked to complete a specific task. Timing will be critical so bring a good watch, smart phone etc. After receiving your tasks, you will step to the aircraft and plan on taxiing 25 minutes later.
In the interest of safety, you are encouraged to share this experience in the cockpit with another pilot or your favorite Navigator/Safety Observer.
Free lunch provided by the City of Wichita Falls after the event.
